FAQ

Does GatorCache write to my htaccess file?

No, GatorCache does not write to your htaccess. However, recommended Apache rewrite rules are provided, based on your settings, that you can copy and paste to your htaccess file to enable http caching.

How do I delete the entire cache?

Click on the “Gator Cache” button on your admin toolbar. From the menu below, choose “Purge entire cache”. Alternatively, you can navigate to the Gator Cache settings to the Debug tab and use the purge button.

What is Cache Warming?

Typically when a cache is refreshed, the cached file and it’s contents are deleted. This is what GatorCache does when a post or page is updated. Then when a vistor visits that page, the cache is re-generated on the fly. This works well in most scenarios. However, if your pages are really slow when not cached, you can set GatorCache to “warm the cache”. This simply means that when a post is updated and the content is removed from the cache, the post url will be pinged in the background in order to re-generate the cached content. This will prevent any visitors from getting non-cached content and slow-loading pages. Please note that when you purge the entire cache, and have cache warming enabled, that this will not regenerate the cache for the entire site.

I have tried a lot of cache plugins and this is the best. Very simple to configure. I use this plugin in all my website with Autoptimize and a Lazy Load plugin. Thank you! 🙂

I have tried so many plugins to improve my WooCommerce site. WP Fastest Cache, W3 Total Cache, Hummingbird - the list goes on and on. ALL of them were completely USELESS with caching WooCommerce products pages. With this plugin, product pages load instantaneously. The only negatives are the images take time to load. I also tried using CDN (MaxCDN) and it looked like a mobile website from the 90's. I've stopped using the CDN for now. Quite honestly, the site loads faster than using a CDN. That's a minuscule price to pay. If you have WooCommerce, you MUST use this plugin. It's the only one that specifically caches Products pages. No extra configuration necessary for it to work unless you want to tweak. But out of the box, it does what you need.

I was pleased to see a caching plugin that works with bbpress. Unfortunately, after all the setup it gave us literally a zero increase in our page speed. Not one point higher. I noticed there are support requests weeks old so I didn't bother looking for help. If anyone has a great caching plugin that works with bbpress, I'm definitely interested.
